I may be just like you in that I have decided I wanted something different in my life, navigated major transitions, sustained grief and integrated loss, found tremendous happiness and challenges in parenting children, maintaining important relationships, and choosing worthwhile paths to take along the way.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering individual, family and couples’ psychotherapy for adults seeking to more effectively address a broad range of challenges. My experience working with individuals, couples, and families in a variety of clinical, non-profit community mental health and hospital settings has provided me with opportunities to address behavioral health matters at all levels of intensity.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters in Business Administration from the Wharton School (my first career was in financial services), and a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University. Additionally, I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, as well as in applying EMDR in the treatment of traumatic experience and memory.
In a style that is warm, direct and non-judgmental I will challenge you to create opportunities for growth. I incorporate a mix of approaches and modalities including CBT, DBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness, yet I am primarily informed by the theories explaining how people relate to each other and what those relationships mean in our lives: attachment-based, psychodynamic and family systems. My belief is that as you start to uncover why you maintain certain patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, we will find the path to acceptance and change that work best for you.
Outside of providing psychotherapy, I am involved in a variety of local community efforts, especially involving issues concerning the health and wellness of seniors. I enjoy spending time with family (including my dog) and friends, listening to live music, being physically active, and just exploring. I deeply enjoy nature, and channel my late Grandpa Abe as I start my day feeding the birds, as he did.
I hold memberships in the National Association of Social Workers, EFTCNJ and ICEEFT (as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist), and of EMDRIA, through which I trained in EMDR.
